The Algarve Writing Retreat with Janice Russell

Are you an aspiring or working writer? This unique writing retreat in the relaxing yet vibrant atmosphere of the Algarve may be for you. The retreat offers a glorious space in which to enjoy structured group tuition, space to write, opportunities to share with other writers, and some individual feedback. To be a writer is much more than a question of sitting at the desk and letting the muse create: it is both an art and a science. Writing requires self regulation, immersing oneself in story, and a degree of boldness. It demands an ability to make ruthless and well considered cuts, to consider both detail and the bigger picture, and to blend conscious and unconscious magic.

Fancy indulging? This Retreat will run from Sunday 18th until Friday 23rd September 2016. Accommodation is available from 11 a.m. on the 18th until a.m. Saturday 24th,  and if you want to arrive before that, we can help source nearby venues for excellent prices. We begin over dinner from 6 p.m. on Sunday evening, with an opportunity to meet with other guests, discuss your personal objectives, and commence the climate of the course. Each subsequent day features a group session exploring points of view, narrative style, plot, principles and format. We are also hoping to secure a guest writer to do a reading and share writing tips and methods  mid week. Tuition will flex to suit writers of both fiction and non fiction, and will be fun as well as educative. On the fifth night we will share dinner together and enjoy readings from all members of the group, and on the final day we will develop clarity of where to next. Whether you’re beginning or completing a project, this course will have huge impact.cropped Jan on balcony
