He worked as a Senior Private Secretary, providing direct support and advice to Health Ministers and to the NHS Chief Executive and the Permanent Secretary at the Department of Health based in Whitehall. He is a Non Executive Director of a Clinical Commissioning Group, where he chairs the patient safety and quality committee and the remuneration committee. He is also a co-opted Trustee of a Hospice assisting with the development of their governance and clinical risk procedures.
Outside of work, David lives in a village in Norfolk, where he is a Parish Councillor, member of the Parochial Church Council and Chair of the Festival of Arts Committee. He has recently resurrected life as a musical performer and can be heard from time to time playing one of his selection of high quality vintage guitars in a popular music beat combo in his local area.
